GDDTracker is up and running for 2008

What a difference a week makes. Finally, getting some temperatures in the 50s and 60s. Nice to see some color on the map, but it's even nicer to see some color returning to the landscape. If you would like to get an idea of where things are at compared to last year, pick your model and then click on the flashback tool below the map (the map will redraw with last years data).

Proxy/Primo: Several tiers across the southern tracker region are ready for Proxy/Primo applications. Remember, we recommend that you have mowed once or twice and are 100 percent green before making you Proxy/Primo application. Check the About area on the web site to read more.

Embark32 and Embark 50: Still in a holding pattern here, although we are getting closer. Sounds like the weather might cool off this weekend and in to the beginning of next week. GDD-wise we are probably a full week behind last year.

Crabgrass PRE: Hold your horses there tiger. I know the NCAA mens basketball tournament has bombarded you with fertilizer and crabgrass commercials, however, it's still too early to apply. We will probably see the window sneak up on us over the next few weeks. Preemergence failures of 2005 and 2006 were almost all related to early applications. In those years, germination did not occur until mid-May or early-June.

Super GDDTrackers: Special thanks to John Cooney, Troy Looney and Jim Bluck for sending GDD data every week. These guys help fill some gaps in the network with GDD stations at their sites.

As always, thanks for the feedback and comments. We are working hard to make GDDTracker better.
