News and Information
The MiGCSA celebrated its first birthday this January. I would like to thank the board, staff and our immediate Past President, John Fulling, for their leadership, hard work and energy in turning what was once only an idea into one of the leading GCSAA chapters in the country. We were faced with the task of combining four district chapters into one statewide chapter. We wanted to maintain some regional autonomy, yet centralize our management, communications and event planning to increase efficiency and permit our industry to speak with one voice. Our Industry Partnership Program was received by our supplier members with open arms and we expect to grow upon our success in 2009. We have planned a full calendar of events which feature education, fun and fundraising for MSU turf research.
We are updating our website to become more tech-oriented and provide you with even more resources. Our 2009 event calendar is already posted online and you will be receiving notices both in the mail and electronically inviting you to industry events. Our budget is sound, membership is growing, and the future looks bright.
Superintendents statewide are discovering that the MiGCSA membership is an outstanding value. We appreciate your support and look forward to serving you in the coming years. As your 2009 president, please feel welcome to contact me with ideas, suggestions or concerns. Likewise, our Lansing staff stands ready to help. We look forward to seeing you at MiGCSA events this spring and summer. Your participation is what makes the MiGCSA strong. Together, we can build on our successful inaugural year and bring more value to our profession and you personally.
