The Assistant Superintendent will be responsible for daily staff management of 15-30 crew members. The Assistant Superintendent will also be responsible for making daily and weekly schedules while forecasting agronomic programs based on the needs of the golf course. Daily plans will be made in advance and reviewed with the Superintendent. Each Assistant Superintendent is responsible for managing 9 holes on property and is encouraged to make weekly goals to improve the conditioning of that course. While daily maintenance is a given, examples of goals that could be established are spot fertility applications, small in-house projects, or items such as sprinkler head leveling which overall help improve the course. The Assistant Superintendent will also be responsible for recruiting and hiring seasonal staff. The Assistant Superintendent should be eager to learn and engaged in growing professionally within the industry.
This position is a hands-on position in which the Assistant Superintendent will be directly involved with project management, irrigation scheduling and maintenance, hand watering, fertilizing, performing chemical applications, and other normal golf course operations. The Assistant Superintendent will also attend greens committee meetings for experience with presenting information and communication skills.
2 or 4 year degree in turfgrass management
Salary: Competitive D.O.E. 42,000-48,000 annually
Schedule: 5 days on & 2 days off each week. There is also opportunity to “combine” days from other Assistants to increase the ability to take vacations without using vacation/personal days.
