    Tanglewood Golf Club is a 27 hole upscale public golf course located in South Lyon Michigan.  Built in 1991 it is host to daily play, leagues as well as corporate and celebrity golf outings.  Tanglewood is searching for a Superintendent to continue our reputation as a leader in public golf in Southeast Michigan

    Job Description:
    Basic Functions

    works directly with, and reports directly to, the Owner on all issues related to golf course maintenance

    directs and participates in the maintenance of all turf grass components of the facility

    works closely with the Owner to operate the golf course in a fiscally responsible and professional manner

    must be able to work independently and strong problem solving skills

    Primary Duties

    Oversees the care and maintenance of all turf, trees, shrubs and water features on the facility grounds

    Directs and assists the staff on completing daily tasks to set standards. Holds staff accountable and corrects where necessary

    Analyzes problem areas on a daily basis and has a communicated plan to correct areas

    Performs regular irrigation assessment of all playing surfaces to adjust and make corrections to provide a uniform and quality surface

    Communication to the Owner of any and all issues that may affect any of the personnel ,turf, irrigation, water, plant and landscape areas

    Provides technical, operational and safety training for employees to ensure that staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions.

    Oversees subordinates in proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment.

    Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the facility’s grounds in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.


    Knowledge & Skills Required

    Knowledge of management and maintenance of golf course turfgrass

    Knowledge of use and operating standards of equipment and tools used in golf course construction and maintenance work

    Skilled in recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating and motivating personnel

    Interpersonal skill to resolve conflict and work with supervisors, officials, employees, golf course patrons and neighbors

    Knowledge of safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products

    Knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules and methods of play

    Ability to anticipate personnel, equipment, and material requirements related to maintenance operations


    At least 2 years experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or 1st Assistant

    2-Year Degree or Certificate in Turf Management or related field

    Computer skills, including the use of Google Docs and Microsoft Office Suite

    Valid Driver\'s License

    Pesticide Application License

    GCSAA Certification
