Golden Hawk is an 18 hole golf course with full restaurant, banquet, weddding, and practice amenities. The course is laid out in a open design with wide fairways with tree lines. The course has Bentgrass tees, greens, and fairways along with 29 bunkers. A new pump station was installed two seasons ago along with improvements on the greens after transfer pumps. Equipment is a mixed combination of toro and John Deere.
The Superintendent is expected to manage all outdoor areas of the property including golf course in it’s entirety, wedding ceremony areas, parking lots, practice areas, and roadsides. The maintenance facility is expected to be maintained and kept in an organized and presentable fashion. The Superintendent will be responsible for scheduling maintenance for all turf equipment and golf cart fleet. Daily scheduling, monitoring and training of staff is expected. Daily communication with the General Manager and weekly communication with owners is expected in a positive way.
Requirements for candidates are as follows:
•Must have positive attitude and be infectious with all other staff in a positive way
•Must have 5 years experience in golf course maintenance with 2 years minimum in a management roll
•Must posses minimum category 3 A Michigan Applicators license or obtain by June 1 2021
•Must have a valid drivers license and transportation to work
•Expect a minimum of 50 hours a week or more during golf season and the possibility of certain weeks without a day off. Winter months are more flexible for flex time off.
•Snow removal is expected in the winter
•Must be in good physical condition for the position including being able to lift 50 lbs and be on your feet for hours at a time.
•Good communication both electronically and verbally are required
•Minimum of two years experience operating and repairing golf course irrigation is expected
•Minimum of two years experience applying fertilizer and pesticides is expected
•Basic understanding of operation of all turf equipment and the ability to train others in operation of it.
•Posses the ability to grow a staff into a team and provide a fun and productive work environment
