Facility Operation: Oak Lane Golf Course is an 18 hole public course located about 15 minutes east of Lansing, Michigan.
The Superintendent will be responsible for daily staff management of 5-7 crew members.
The Superintendent will be responsible for making daily and weekly schedules while forecasting agronomic programs based on the needs of the golf course.
The Superintendent is responsible for managing 18 holes on property and is encouraged to make weekly goals to improve the conditioning of that course.
While daily maintenance is a given, examples of goals that could be established are spot fertility applications, small in-house projects, or items such as sprinkler head leveling which overall help improve the course.
The Superintendent will also be responsible for recruiting and hiring seasonal staff.
This position is a hands-on position in which the Superintendent will be directly involved with project management, irrigation scheduling and maintenance, hand watering, fertilizing, performing chemical applications, and other normal golf course operations.
2 or 4 year degree in turfgrass management recommended
Michigan Pesticide Operators license
Previous experience in golf course maintenance.
Proficient knowledge of irrigation and drainage systems.
Flexibility to work weekend during the peak season, holidays that fall on the schedule, and annual events.
Experience with spraying fertilizers/pesticides, calibrating equipment, and knowledge of turf products.
