After months of deliberation and discussion by phone, email and online meetings the MiGCSA Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 2020 Northern Fundraiser at Arcadia Bluffs. Please know this was not an easy decision nor was it made lightly. We have a full understanding that it may ultimately prove to be an unnecessary caution. The myriad of unknown possible outcomes from hosting this event only two and a half weeks from today is the driving force behind this decision. We do believe at this time, with the information we have, that this is the most correct course of action for the MiGCSA, our members and our partners.
We do have an alternative for those who would still like to keep this long time tradition going outside of an official chapter event. Arcadia Bluffs has offered a rate of $200 to play the South Course on Sunday May 31st and the Bluffs on Monday June 1st or $125 to only play the Bluffs Course on Monday June 1st. These tee times can be made on a first come first serve basis by calling Becky Andrews, Arcadia Bluffs Group Coordinator at and letting her know you are with the MiGCSA.
We all very much look forward to continuing this tradition on the first Monday in June 2021. The proceeds from this event along with Western Golf Day (September 28, Kalamazoo Country Club) and the Big Event (October 12, Indianwood Golf & Country Club) are used for scholarships, donations, and philanthropic turf related interests like the Wee One Foundation, EIFG and the MSU Turf Club. The majority traditionally goes directly to funding turf research at Michigan State University through the Michigan Turfgrass Foundation.
