The 19th annual State Championship was played Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath. Thank you to our hosts, Director of Grounds Steve Fiorillo, CGCS & Assistant Superintendent Jeffery Smith. Thank you to our industry hosts from Eagle Eye Golf Club: Luke Thode, Director of Operations, Naomi Batterbee, Executive Chef & Angie Gibbs, Banquet Operations Manager. The course was in outstanding shape. Finally a special thank-you goes to our presenting partner, Syngenta & Eric Schutman.
Teams of four played a Low Net, Best 2 Balls format, with individual gross and net competitions for members and assistant superintendents running alongside.
Tournament Highlights
The weather was stunning, a late fall day that hit 70 degrees with no wind, and the golf course was spectacular. Mike Gianopoulos, CGCS won the State Championship for the third time in four years, posting the day's best score of 71. Douglas Ware took member low net with a 69, one shot ahead of Alexander Larson and Dan Sabina at 70.
In the Assistant Superintendent flight, Alexander Larson took low gross with a 74, and Thomas Utter took low net with a 73.
