Committees

We are committed to representing, promoting and advancing the careers of Assistant Golf Course Superintendents. We are focused on providing opportunities for networking and professional growth for career enhancement.
A Communication Committee shall be composed of at least two Members from each district. At least two of these Members shall serve on the MiGCSA Board of Directors. One Director shall serve as the chairman and one shall serve as the vice-chairman. It shall be the duty of this committee to provide the membership with information about the Association. This committee will be responsible for the Web site (MiGCSA.org), Quarterly publication (Course Conditions), Membership Directory, and any other method of communication that shall advance the interest of the association.
This committee is made up of superintendents, assistants, sales personnel, professors and interested persons in the turf industry but not limited to. The goal of the committee is to bring educational topics and speakers to the table and then organize topics and speakers into an educational event that will support the turf industry throughout the state. At this point, the main educational events are the spring one day seminars and some lighter monthly gatherings. This committee does report to the MiGCSA board of directors and has some budget dollars to operate with.
Purpose: To meet and discuss legislative and departmental initiatives currently in development at the state, federal and regional levels. The committee will also devise strategy as to the handling of each specific issue noteworthy to the MiGCSA membership and will present to the board, for a vote, recommended action on each issue. The committee will examine opportunities for legislative effort, and will seek the input of the membership and board of directors for advancement.
Handicap & Competition
This committee will be the decision maker on any disputes regarding handicap or competition disputes.
The Member Well-being Committee is focused on providing connections, offering support, and creating a culture of care on and off the golf course.
Purpose: To meet, discuss and develop strategy to increase and sustain the membership of the MiGCSA. The committee will report to the board of directors and will provide membership information useful for membership policy development.
The Cares Committee strengthens the Michigan Golf Course Superintendent Association by offering support through sensitive responses to all members in times of need.
Purpose: To meet and discuss the development, growth, promotion, financial expansion and disbursement of MiGCSA scholarship opportunities. The committee will provide, to the board of directors, feedback regarding each aspect of the scholarship and will provide information useful for developing and improving MiGCSA scholarship policy.
