Due to continued community spread of COVID-19, paper-based, in-person pesticide applicator certification exams will be suspended until MDARD determines that exams can be safely resumed. When MDARD resumes in-person exam administration, individuals who had been scheduled for previously suspended exam sessions will get priority access for future sessions. Applicators can check the online pesticide exam scheduling (OPES) website for updated information. For applicators who have a credential that expires December 31, 2020, online recertification seminar opportunities are available and can be found on the MDARD website at https://www2.mda.state.mi.us/schedule/schedule.html.
Computer-based, in-person exams continue to be available at limited locations through Metro Institute, a private pesticide exam administration company authorized to conduct testing on MDARD’s behalf. Metro Institute charges $55 per exam. To schedule a computer-based exam with Metro Institute, please click here or call 877-533-2900. Be advised, review your confirmation email when scheduling an exam for information about Metro Institute safety protocols.
MDARD continues to work with Metro Institute in the development of remotely proctored, online exams that can be taken from nearly any computer with an internet connection. More information to come.
